Shiatsu Therapy

Shiatsu Therapy

Shiatsu Therapy, rooted in traditional Japanese medicine, is a holistic and hands-on approach to healing that harmonizes the body's vital energy, known as Qi. Originating from the Japanese words "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure), this therapeutic technique involves applying precise pressure to specific points on the body, using thumbs, fingers, palms, and sometimes elbows and knees. The therapist's aim is to stimulate and balance the body's energy flow, promoting overall well-being and alleviating various physical and emotional ailments. Shiatsu is based on the belief that imbalances in Qi can lead to discomfort or illness, and by restoring the flow of energy through meridians or pathways in the body, one can achieve equilibrium and health. Sessions typically take place on a floor mat or futon, with the recipient fully clothed. Beyond pressure point manipulation, Shiatsu incorporates stretches, joint rotations, and gentle manipulations to release tension and enhance flexibility. This therapy is not only a remedy for musculoskeletal issues but also a means of reducing stress, improving circulation, and supporting the body's natural healing abilities. Shiatsu therapy is embraced globally as a complementary and alternative medicine practice, offering a non-invasive, natural approach to fostering balance and vitality in both body and mind.
