Massage is the modification of the soft tissues of the whole body for relaxation or improved sleep, or for relief from muscular aches and pains.? Massage therapies are generally applied with hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearms, feet, or using a device. Key uses of massage are for relaxation, to treat painful muscular conditions, and reduce anxiety.

In professional massage settings, clients are offered massage while lying on a massage table, sitting in a massage chair, or lying on a mat on the floor.
