Traditional medicine is differentiated from scientific medicine. It is also known as indigenous medicine or folk medicine.

Traditional medicine indicates medical practices, approaches, knowledge and believes involving plant, animal and mineral based medicines, mind-body therapies, spiritual therapies, manual techniques and exercises, applied singularly or in combination to treat, diagnose and prevent diseases and illnesses or maintain health and well-being.
