Phytomedicine is also called as botanical medicine or plant medicine. It can be defined as the herbal medicine with therapeutic and healing properties. It came into existence since the beginning of human civilization. It differs from herbalism. A Phytomedicine can be defined as a preparation that is derived solely from a whole plant or parts of plants and manufactured in a crude form or as a purified pharmaceutical formulation. Plant medicines are selected to stimulate and strengthen the body functions and immune system ultimately helping the body in restoring itself to health on its own.
