Mukkuttram in traditional medicine is one of the oldest healing systems known to man and is based on the use of natural herbs, oils, and mixed medicines to treat a range of illnesses. It is considered to be one of the most comprehensive and powerful traditional systems of healthcare and is most widely practiced in South India. Mukkuttram is a holistic system of medicine which takes into account the psychological, emotional and spiritual dimensions of health and illness. It involves the use of natural herbs and oils, mixed medicines and other therapies such as massage, yoga, meditation and exercise. In Mukkuttram, toxins are identified as the cause of all diseases, and treatment focuses on eliminating these toxins from the body through the use of natural herbs, oils, and other therapies. These herbs include examples such as kaachil, or Asparagus Racemosus, and kenjirukamman, or blessed thistle, which help to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, stimulate circulation, and balance hormones. Mukkuttrampu, a traditional oil-based massage, is widely used to improve blood circulation and give healing relief to a variety of skeletal and muscular conditions. It is believed to relax the body and mind and alleviate pain. In conjunction with herbal treatments, medications are prescribed to correct imbalances in the body's natural energy. The aim of Mukkuttram traditional medicine is to bring balance to the body's energy, restore total wellbeing, and provide a full holistic health care system that addresses the underlying cause of disease. It is believed to be an effective form of healthcare and has been used for centuries to treat a wide range of conditions from arthritis to depression.
