Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a relatively new and growing form of alternative medicine. It involves the gentle manipulation of the bones of the skull and spine, which helps to reduce common muscle tensions and promotes a state of deep relaxation. CST is believed to have many beneficial effects, such as reducing physical and emotional stress, improving posture, and promoting overall health and wellbeing. CST has been practiced since ancient times by many cultures. In traditional Chinese medicine, it was used to relieve headaches, fatigue, and to improve overall health. In India, CST has been traditionally used to treat various injuries of the head, neck, and spine, as well as a wide range of other conditions such as tendonitis, arthritis, sciatica, and migraine. Proponents of CST claim that it can be effective in relieving a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, depression, asthmatic conditions, and digestive issues. They claim that through the gentle manipulation of the bones, ligaments, and muscles of the head and spine, the body can be encouraged to heal and restore itself. Furthermore, it is believed that CST can promote a feeling of calmness and relaxation, reduce fatigue and improve concentration. The mechanism of CST is still relatively unclear, however studies investigating the effect of the therapy have showed that these benefits are possible. Research has suggested that the light touch of CST stimulates the production of hormones such as serotonin, which results in a feeling of calmness and relaxation. The studies have also shown that CST can have a beneficial effect on the autonomic nervous system, helping to reduce stress levels and improve the body's ability to heal itself. Overall, although CST is not a widely accepted form of traditional medicine, it is becoming increasingly popular with many people who are looking for a more natural approach to health and wellbeing. Further research into the effects of CST will be beneficial in determining the potential benefits that it can provide.
