Coronaviruses

Coronaviruses

Coronaviruses have been traditionally known to be an integral part of traditional medicine. They have a long history of usage in the medicinal arts, especially in traditional Chinese and Indian medicine. For instance, in Chinese medicine, these viruses are believed to be beneficial to health as they ‘remove toxins’ from the body and aid in digestion. Similarly, in India, Coronaviruses are said to promote balance in the body by stimulating the production of special hormones, and also aiding in the removal of unwanted toxins. These beneficial effects of Coronaviruses have recently been studied in more detail, and several signs point to an inherent biological action of these viruses on the human body. Studies conducted in the early 2000s indicated that they may stimulate the production of a growth hormone, necessary for the organs and systems of the body to function properly. The study further concluded that these viruses possess antiviral and anti-inflammatory qualities, and that they are able to reduce respiratory inflammation. The use of Coronaviruses in traditional medicine has been further reinforced by the discovery of several classes of Coronavirus-fighting drugs. These drugs target specific viral proteins responsible for suppressing the immune system and causing disease. This discovery has great potential implications for the treatment of a wide array of viral infections, including those due to Coronaviruses. The benefits of traditional medicines for combating Coronaviruses have been recognized worldwide. Various organizations, such as the World Health Organization, have recommended the use of traditional medicines in their guidelines for treatment of Coronavirus patients. As research progresses and further information about the potential of these viruses in combatting Coronavirus becomes available, there is a good chance that their use in traditional medicine will become more widespread.
