9th Edition of International Conference on
Traditional medicine has been used for centuries in many cultures to treat a variety of ailments. One of the cornerstones of traditional medicines around the world is the use of chemical compounds found in plants. Plants provide a wide variety of chemicals that have medicinal properties, and these compounds have been extracted and used in traditional medicines across cultures for generations. The most common compounds found in plants used in traditional medicine are essential oils such as lavender, rosemary, and tea tree. These oils are composed of volatile compounds, such as terpenes and alcohols, which have anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties that can be used to treat wounds, burns, headaches, and even mental health issues. In addition to essential oils, there are a number of alkaloids found in plants that have been used to treat pain, nausea, fatigue, and even cancer. These alkaloids include morphine, codeine, quinine, and ephedrine, which are all derived from plants and have been used as medicines for hundreds of years. Other compounds found in plants include polyphenols, tannins, and flavonoids. Polyphenols have antioxidant properties, while tannins have astringent properties that can reduce inflammation. Flavonoids have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties and can also be used to reduce blood pressure. Plants have been used for centuries to treat illnesses, and the compounds found in these plants have been studied extensively. In recent years, scientists have gained a better understanding of the medicinal properties of these compounds and have been able to isolate and synthesize them for use in modern medicine. While modern medicine has its place, traditional medicine remains an invaluable asset in treating and preventing diseases.
