Title : Yoga intervention on a male adult with acute low back pain
Abstract:
Introduction: Numerous studies indicate yoga as a valid treatment to reduce nonspecific low back pain. Nevertheless, the matter remains still non-well defined. In this report, we present a case of an adult male treated with yoga for low back pain.
Matherial and methods At the end of last September 2021, a 53-year-old-man ran in an acute episode of low back pain. The episode came out without an immediately identifiable cause. To face the problem, the subject turned to yoga. Both postures (asana) and breath control exercises (pranayama) and meditation practice (dhyana) were used.
Results: Within a week, the acute phase has passed, and after three weeks, the subject appears visibly improved in his movements.
Conclusions: Certainly, a single case does not make school. However, it can contribute to provide useful information to develop an intervention protocol to be tested later on more significant samples.
