Title : The effect of blueberry (Vaccinium uliginosum. L) in purity-turbidity secretion

Abstract:

Blueberries are categorized under the genus “Vaccinium. There are three species of fruits which belong to Vaccinium genius, named Cowberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea. L), billberry (Vaccinium myrtillus.L), bog blueberry (Vaccinium uliginosum.L) in our country. Vaccinium uliginosum.L grows in the Khentii, Khangai, Khuvsgul Zavkhan province.
The aim of this study  to determine biological activity substances in Mongolian wild blueberry and  product new diatery supplements.
Materials and methods: The blueberry had been collected from specific points which named  Zavhan, Khuvsgul, Bulgan and Khentii province in Mongolia. After picked out unnecessary plant parts, we immediately stored in the freeze at 19 ± 1O C0 until the study begin. We made our study in ??ngolian University of Science and Technology,  Food and chemical laboratory, using acceptable  methods and equipments. The amount of total phenolics in the berry extracts was determined with the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent according to the method Waterhouse using gallic acid as a standard. The antioxidant activities of the extracts were determined using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) reagent and Trolox as a standard described by Adedpo in 2009.
Commercial feed was supplemented with 7.5% of pig grease and with 2.5% corn oil for each 100 g of feed according to the described methodology of Jinhua (2014) with some modifications. The hyperlipidemic diet was prepared daily for all the groups. After inducing hypercholesterolemia, the groups continued to receive the same diet until the end of the experiment.
After 56 days of hypercholesterolemia induction and blood samples were collected for lipid analysis as follows: total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol and triglycerides.
Results: As a result of in this study 4 samples antioxidant activities were  Khentii-89.50%, Bulgan-77.10%, Khuvsgul-75.84%, Zavkhan (frozen)-73.2%. It shows that Khentii province blueberry has high antioxidant activity.
And total phenolic compound were Khentii-3.24%, Zavkhan-1.72%, Bulgan-1.48%, Khuvsgul-1.46%,. But the total flavonoid contents were Khentii-2.69%, Khuvsgul-0.97%, Zavkhan (freeze dried)-0.92%, Zavkhan (frozen)-0.86%, Bulgan-0.60%. It shows that Khentii province blueberry has high phenolic content.
We measured the total phenolic and flavonoid content in the blueberry juice and peel. Total phenolic content ranged from 0.47%-1.65 % in the blueberry peel but total flavonoid content ranged from 0.55%-1.48% in the juice . It can be seen that the peel contains high polyphenol compounds.
In our study, triglycerides were significantly reduced after treatment with the blueberry extract. It is indicating that the blueberry extract can effectively regulate the metabolism of cholesterol and triglycerides in HFD-induced obese rats.
Conclusions: Vaccinium uliginosum.L-antioxidant activity ranged from 73.2% to 89.50%, but total phenolic compound between 1.32% -3.24%. These aspects had the highest percentage in Khentii sample. the peel contains most polifyenolt compounds blue blueberry has shown that the peel contains most polifyenolt compounds wild blueberry.
In addition, the hypercholesterolemic rats treated with BE showed significant decrease in serum level of triglycerides. These results suggest that BE and SIM exhibit similar lipid-lowering activity.
