Title : Effective homeopathic management of pediatric plantar psoriasis with lachesis 200: A case study
Abstract:
Background: Plantar psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory dermatological condition affecting the soles of the feet. It may be rare in pediatric populations but causes significant discomfort due to painful fissures, scaling, and itching that may hinder walking and daily functioning. Conventional treatment often involves corticosteroids and emollients but carries the risk of recurrence and side effects, particularly in children (1). Homeopathy, with its emphasis on individualization and holistic care, offers a safe alternative for long-term healing without side effects (2,3).
Aim: To assess the effectiveness of individualized homeopathic treatment in a 7-year-old girl suffering from plantar psoriasis.
Case Presentation: A 7-year-old girl presented with complaints of dry, thickened skin with deep cracks and scaling on both soles for 3–6 months. The condition was accompanied by severe itching, especially worse during the winter and rainy seasons. The child scratched intensely, leading to bleeding and cutting-type pain, which severely restricted her mobility and walking. Her emotional profile included occasional jealousy toward her sibling and a tendency to be talkative. She was sensitive to warmth and had no history of steroid use or topical treatment. Based on the totality of symptoms, including physical and emotional characteristics, Lachesis 200 was prescribed in a single dose, without the use of any topical steroids or immunosuppressant’s.
Method: The case was evaluated using classical homeopathic methodology, including detailed casetaking, constitutional analysis, and repertorization. Lachesis mutus 200C was selected as the constitutional remedy and administered in a single dose for three months.
Results: By the second week, bleeding and intensity of itching reduced. By week four, cracks had visibly healed and the child was able to walk without pain. By week eight, scaling was minimal, and the soles appeared nearly normal. At the end of three months, the patient was symptom-free, with no recurrence reported in follow-up visits. No side effects or suppressions were observed.
Conclusion: This case highlights the potential of homeopathy in managing pediatric psoriasis safely and effectively. Lachesis 200, selected through constitutional prescribing, brought about complete healing in a short span of three months, demonstrating the value of individualized homeopathic care in chronic dermatological conditions.
